So there is a reason to watch Jeopardy other than when Paul is on: You might learn things, even about civil procedure. Yesterday, I learned that Tennessee Williams (a St. Louis native) used to work at International Shoe–according to the question (answer?), it was while working there that Williams met a man named Stanley Kowalski.
This would be a great factoid to mention in class–if I had any hope that a decent number of students would know who Williams was.

I’ve used names of famous movie stars in some exam fact patterns. Most of my students believe that Greer Garson is a “he.” I’m getting too old for this. Send along the AARP application.

I have a Torts case about a car accident on Elysian Fields in New Orleans. About one person a class can make the Streetcar Named Desire reference (or the mythological reference).

This is great trivia, Howard, and it raises another is-shoe (pun intended, couldn’t resist): Was the real Stanley Kowalski compensated for the use of his name? There could have been causes of action concerning privacy and slander (since the character in the play and film was so unseemly).
