Not sure exactly what you implying here, Howard. Of course individual plaintiffs may be upset at a judge who authored an opinion with a ruling adverse to their case. However, as far as I know, Justice Cardozo never made public statements or wrote opinions that expressed prejudice against Germans in general, or women, or people who ride trains. Never called them “reprehensible” or compared them to those who engage in bestiality or child pornography, as Scalia did with the gay community. I can imagine that if Cardozo did those things, then yes, Mrs. Palsgraf, and probably her entire community (of Germans, women, train riders, etc.), and other Americans, would be upset over the name of the law school.
