It certainly is an interesting discussion, but it seems to me that the political conclusions seem to be driving the interest. There are numerous cases of unsupportable or outright fake papers that are able to pass peer review or end up published in predatory journals. Many of these are in medicine, computer science, and engineering, studies that I doubt the authors would term “grievance studies.”
