Is Rock ‘n’ Roll the most self-referential of all music genres? There are dozens of songs invoking or praising Rock ‘n’ Roll, but few if any in other genres. There are plenty of blues songs with “Blues” in the title, but the reference is almost always to having the blues, not to the music itself.
