The Pitt was all about law tonight.
One patient is a student who had a violate outburst at a college library. He was brought in shouting what sounds like code sections of Title 18 (not sure if Title 18 of US Code or Pennsylvania Code). When I have time, I want to look up the code provisions. We do not know details. My prediction: He is a recent law grad studying for the Bar (it is summer, after all; not sure if it remains true, but back in the day the “July 4 Rule” held that studying kicked into gear the next day). More to come.
The other piece is a mention of “Mr. Zambelli,” referring to George Zambelli a Pittsburgh native and the original and greatest fireworks (the episode takes place on July 4). I guess I did not realize just how big a deal Zambelli was and his family company is. Or that Pittsburgh is the “firework capital of America.” In Civ Pro, I teach Zambelli Fireworks v. Wood, a 2010 Third Circuit case arising from Zambelli’s attempt to enforce a non-compete against a former executive (thought to be the future of the company). The court analyzed citizenship of an LLC for diversity purposes (where the court had to dig through three levels of members to find an answer) and whether the new employer is a Rule 19 required party in an action to enforce a non-compete.
