I came across an interesting tidbit in some recent research. The first court to review the constitutionality of the Voting Rights Act amendments from 1970 was a three-judge District Court that included David Bazelon. The case was argued by . . . Ted Kennedy.
This is the only case that Ted Kennedy argued in a federal court. (According to a book by Neal Gabler, Kennedy simply gave a long speech and was not asked any questions). The District Court upheld the Act, but this decision was vacated by the Supreme Court in light of Oregon v. Mitchell.
