Sometimes I wonder about the Chief Justice’s discretion to decide when an opinion is released. For example, I find it hard to believe that the Cook opinions really took five months to prepare. The more likely explanation is that they (or he) just want it to come out on the same day as Slaughter, which probably did take months to prepare. We’ll know next week.
